Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) has urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure lighting, orderly, and transparent elections in the by, elections for Muminji and Evurore wards in Embu County that are slated for February 26.

Both wards were declared empty after the Members of County Assembly, Newton Karish and Duncan Mbui respectively, resigned to vie in the parliamentary by, election that was conducted in November last year.

DEP’s appeal is against the background of last year’s by, elections which the opposition rejected as unorderly following reports of violence in several polling stations and questioning the preparedness and capability of IEBC to conduct credible elections.

The party has urged the electoral body to ensure the introducing of sufficient security measures, orderly management of polling stations, and maintaining transparency during the whole process to protect the sovereign right of the voters.
