A family from Riabai Ward, Kiambu County, is in need of help after a fire that burnt their two-bedroom house late Sunday morning.
The fire incident has made 70-year-old Mary Kanyi homeless after the fire engulfed her entire home. Kanyi was able to escape the fire tragedy.
It is reported by witnesses that neighbors rushed to the fire scene to put out the fire and stop it from spreading to the adjacent houses before the firefighters arrived.
Jude Njomo, former Kiambu Member of Parliament, visited the affected family and urged the Kiambu County Government to upgrade the emergency services by adding more fire engines in the fire stations around the area.
He insinuated that the availability of fire fighting equipment on time could be instrumental in reducing the loss of properties and saving lives in the next occurrences.
The local leaders and the community have appealed for financial support from the well-wishers to the family who are going to reconstruct their house.
