Nairobi City Thunder have successfully defended their Kenya National Men’s Basketball Premier League title after completing a commanding 3-0 finals sweep over Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

Thunder sealed the championship in emphatic fashion on Saturday night, crushing KPA 80-43 in Game Three at the Nyayo Gymnasium.

The win capped off a dominant series for the reigning champions, who had already picked up back-to-back victories in Mombasa last week.

From the opening tip, Thunder were in control—storming to a 26-7 lead in the first quarter. A more balanced second quarter ended 12-12, but Thunder turned up the heat after the break, outscoring KPA 21-16 in the third and closing with a 21-8 burst in the fourth to complete the clean sweep.

In the Women’s Premier League, KPA Ladies also wrapped up their season in style, reclaiming the national title with a 3-0 series sweep over Zetech Sparks.

The Dockers battled to a 59-51 win in Game Three, also held at Nyayo, overcoming a shaky start that saw them trail 14-18 after the first quarter.

They responded with a composed performance—taking the next three quarters 14-11, 15-9, and 16-13—to secure the crown and cap off a dominant postseason run.

With both Thunder and KPA Ladies completing perfect finals sweeps, Kenyan basketball’s elite have once again stamped their authority on the national stage.
