The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has cleared the way for the prosecution of David Geoffrey Ombiro, an administrative officer at the Kisii County Assembly, over fraud-related offences.
According to the DPP, Ombiro will face two counts of deceiving a principal essentially, allegations that he misled his employer for personal gain.
He is also accused of forging official documents and presenting fake papers, leading to three additional counts of forgery and three counts of using false documents.
The charges follow a review of evidence submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on June 19, 2025. In a statement, the ODPP said it had independently evaluated the file before approving the case.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohamed Roba Koto was arraigned at the Mavoko Law Courts on Friday, August 29.
Koto, who was arrested earlier in the week in Nairobi, is facing two charges the alleged misuse of government vehicles for personal business between July 18 and August 19, 2025, and inciting the public to block police officers from recovering one of the vehicles.
