Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has clarified that his recent political statements were misinterpreted and should not be viewed as tribal.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV, Gachagua accused individuals close to President William Ruto of spreading falsehoods and inciting hatred against him. He stressed that his political stance is not motivated by personal gain or vendetta but by the national interest.
“I don’t think stopping abductions, saying no to extrajudicial killings, is revenge. It is humanity. Stopping corruption is not revenge; it’s morality. I am not interested in any revenge. I am interested in good governance, having a country that is working, a happy population,” Gachagua said.
The former DP maintained that his fight is focused on ending injustices, eradicating corruption, and ensuring Kenyans have access to basic services, including drugs in hospitals and education for children.
He added that his call for President Ruto to leave office was not a grudge but a necessity, insisting that he is the only leader bold enough to push for such reforms.
“All I am saying is for that to happen, this man has to exit. It’s not revenge, it’s necessity. I am not a vengeful person, and I have nothing personal against William Ruto,” he stated.
Gachagua emphasized that his agenda is guided by good governance and the well-being of Kenyans, not tribalism or political rivalry.
