Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Thursday morning visited small scale traders in Nairobi City, whom were affected by yesterday’s protests.

Murkomen took aback by the unfortunate incidents of violence that marred the protests. “What began as a constitutionally protected expression of public concern was sadly hijacked by organized gangs” he says

He condemned kind of lawlessness that not only undermines the spirit of democracy but also causes unnecessary suffering for innocent Kenyans.

He further condemned the attack by politically motivated goons, who looted businesses worth billions of money.

According to Murkomen, hundreds of traders have been affected, businesses and livelihoods built through hard work and dedication lost. “I met hustlers, small and large scale entrepreneurs and different kind of people that lost their properties from planned Gen Z protests. I feel pain because some were even sheding tears when narrating the odeal” CS lamented

Murkomen vows to stand in solidarity with traders, saying that government will help and support recovery efforts “As a government, our hearts go out to the traders, workers, and residents whose livelihoods and services were disrupted. We are working to restore normalcy, enhance security.” he stated

The CS was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Deputy Inspector General-APS Gilbert Masengeli, senior security officers in Nairobi, and other leaders.
