The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has chosen Leo Muriuki Muthende as its candidate for the upcoming Mbeere North by-election.
Muthende was unveiled on Saturday, September 6, in an event that was graced by UDA deputy party leader Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
The President William Ruto-led outfit settled on him by consensus after seven other aspirants who wanted to run on the UDA ticket stepped down.
Kindiki lauded the seven aspirants for their political maturity and embracing democracy.
"As a party, we are happy to see the candidates have all endorsed one candidate," Kindiki stated.The Mbeere North parliamentary seat fell vacant after its holder, Geoffrey Ruku, was appointed by President Ruto as Public Service Cabinet Secretary.
