Uasin Gishu Waives Land Rate Penalties Until April 30

Land owners in Uasin Gishu now have a chance to clear their bills without extra charges after the county announced a full waiver on penalties.

In a notice released on Monday, Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim said all interest and penalties on unpaid land rates have been removed.

But there is a catch. Land owners must pay the main amount they owe before April 30 to benefit from the waiver.

The county says the move is meant to give people some relief and also encourage them to clear their pending bills.

Property owners, business people and investors have been urged to take advantage of the offer while it lasts.

County officials say clearing land rates will also make it easier for people to access services like business permits without delays.

The waiver has been allowed under the law, which gives counties power to make such decisions.

Uasin Gishu is not alone. In recent years, several counties have used similar waivers to push people to pay what they owe without the burden of penalties.

For many land owners, this is now a short window to settle their dues before the deadline closes at the end of the month.
