TikTok Pulls Down Over 580, 000 Videos in Kenya to Improve Online Safety

TikTok has taken down more than 580, 000 videos in Kenya that violated its Community Guidelines between July and September 2025, revealing the platform’s intensified commitment to user safety and content moderation.

Based on the Q3 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report by TikTok, 99. 7 percent of the videos identified in Kenya were removed even before they were reported by the users, and 94. 6 per cent were removed within 24 hours of being uploaded.

The report further reveals that approximately 90, 000 LIVE sessions throughout the quarter were paused due to content violations, which is about one per cent of all live streams during that period.

TikTok worldwide removed 204, 534, 932 videos in the same quarter, which represents nearly 0. 7 per cent of all content uploaded on the platform. Mainly, 99. 3 per cent of the content was detected and removed automatically before users could even report the content, and 94. 8 per cent was removed within 24 hours of being uploaded.

The company said that the better enforcement rate was due to the continuous investment in the artificial intelligence, powered moderation tools, as a record 91 per cent of the violative content is now being removed through automated technologies.

Besides removing content, deleted more than 118 million fake accounts globally in the third quarter of 2025. The platform also got rid of over 22 million accounts that were suspected of belonging to children under the age of 13, thus strengthening its commitment to protecting minors.

TikTok explains that it uses a mix of highly advanced automated moderation systems and thousands of trust and safety experts to ensure fast and consistent policy enforcement against harmful content such as misinformation and hate speech.

The site has also rolled out new Time and Well, being features, among which are the Well, being Missions designed to encourage teenagers in particular to practice mindful use of digital devices.

Continuing the publication of the Community Guidelines Enforcement Report on a regular basis is part of TikTok’s transparency measures and its pledge to keep a safe digital space for its worldwide community.
