Police officers from Holo Police Station, Kisumu West Sub-County arrested a suspect following a failed burglary attempt at Holo Trading Centre, Kisumu County.
The officers responded to a distress call from a security guard and, upon arrival at the scene, discovered a suspect on the rooftop of a premises who had already dismantled a section of the roofing to gain entry.
National Police Service said the crime happened early morning on Friday after police officers received and rushed to the scene of the alarm raised by the security guard of the location.
According to NPS, the suspect, found armed with a sword, ignored initial orders to surrender and charged at the responding officers but eventually surrendered.
Besides the sword, the police also found a metal bar at the spot which they have taken as the evidence for the case.
The suspect is currently in police custody and the case will be presented in the court soon.
National Police Service congratulated the security guard for being vigilant and the police officers for their quick arrival as it helped not only in saving the properties but also in apprehending the suspect.
