Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that his Linda Mwananchi movement has registered nearly 25,000 members just one week after the launch of its official website.

In a statement shared on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the Nairobi Senator described the figures as impressive, while emphasizing the need to put the numbers into proper perspective.

Sifuna noted that, based on the 2022 electoral data, such a number is significant enough to influence electoral outcomes in several areas across the country.

He explained that 25,000 votes can secure a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in most wards, win a parliamentary seat in some constituencies, and even deliver a senatorial position in counties such as Lamu County and Isiolo County.

“We closed the week at just under 25,000 on pale.lindamwananchi.com. This is impressive, lakini perspective is muhimu. Twenty-five thousand will get you elected as an MCA in almost all wards in Kenya, as an MP in a few constituencies, and as a senator in Lamu and Isiolo counties, according to 2022 data. Mkae mkijua,” he stated.

The update comes days after the launch of the Linda Mwananchi platform, which Sifuna says is aimed at tracking individuals who identify with his “Sisi Ndiyo Sifuna” slogan.

According to the senator, the initiative is part of a broader plan to establish a verified support base before making any decision on a possible bid for a top seat in the 2027 General Election.

He insisted that beyond online registration, supporters must also be registered voters and commit to participating in the electoral process.

“Kabla mnichoche, lazima nione takwimu. Tunataka tufanye census ya watu ambao wanajiita Sifuna, tujue tuko wangapi, na mdhibitishe kwamba nyinyi ni wapiga kura na mtajitokeza kupiga kura kwa hiari yenu,” he said.

Sifuna also pointed out that similar political movements have been formed in the past, but not all have translated into actual votes on election day.

The developments come at a time when the senator remains in the spotlight following his removal as Secretary General and subsequent reinstatement by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal. The matter is scheduled for mention on March 26, 2026.
