Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has strongly rejected claims that he has been removed as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying the move is незакон, rushed and meant to serve political interests.

In a detailed statement, Sifuna said he was never informed of any complaints against him and only learnt of the decision through the media.

“This action is illegal, unprocedural and a clear violation of the ODM Constitution,” he said. “I have not been served with any charges, nor have I been invited to respond to any issue.”

Sifuna said the move was part of a wider scheme to weaken the party and turn it into a tool for outside forces.

He defended his time in office, saying he has worked to strengthen ODM’s internal systems, protect members’ voices and keep the party grounded in its founding values.

“This is not about positions. It is about principle, integrity and the future of our party,” he said.

The senator reaffirmed his loyalty to ODM leader Raila Odinga, describing him as a unifying figure who built the party on justice, democracy and constitutionalism.

He accused the group behind the move of bypassing party structures and dragging ODM into unnecessary conflict.

Sifuna said he will consult party members across the country before announcing his next steps, but maintained that he remains the legitimate Secretary General.

“I remain loyal to ODM and to the struggle for a just and democratic Kenya,” he said.
