Nairobi Senator and embattled ODm secretary general Edwin Sifuna Sifuna has declared that the ODM parliamentary group lacks authority under the party constitution to extend agreements.
He further maintained that the group also lacks the made to nake decisions on its behalf, describing the purported extension as “unconstitutional and void.”
Sifuna criticized the government for failing to deliver on commitments under the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), saying ordinary Kenyans should already be witnessing the results in their daily lives.
“If abductions and extrajudicial killings had stopped, we would all know. If counties had received Sh450 billion in this financial year, it would be obvious. If the government had respected the identity and integrity of political parties, everyone would see it,” Sifuna said.
The Senator revealed that the Linda Mwanainchi group had prepared a “truth report” highlighting where the implementation of the 10-point agenda had fallen short.
“Today we present to Kenyans the truth report detailing the failures in the implementation of the 10-point agenda, breaking down each item and exposing the falsehoods used to wrap them,” he stated.
Sifuna also questioned the government’s approach to public participation, noting that committee meetings were held across the country near the end of the committee’s mandate rather than engaging the government directly on a daily basis.
“Our expectation was that the committee would seek answers from the government rather than traveling across the country for public participation,” he said.
He added that the report aims to highlight gaps in the process and hold the government accountable for promises made under the MoU.
“We present this report to seal any gaps that may be used to mislead Kenyans that all is well in our nation. The country must confront these failures and hold the government accountable on each count,” Sifuna emphasized.
