The Social Health Authority (SHA) has asked workers to verify and confirm whether they have sent their health insurance contributions to the authority through their respective employers.

The authority made the announcement on Thursday through a public notice to all workers. According to the announcement, the Social Health Authority asked workers to verify the information to ensure they have sent their contributions to the authority. This is because the law requires every employer to deduct the money on behalf of the workers and send it to the authority on time.

The authority stated that the money is expected to be sent on or before the ninth day of the following month. This gives the workers an assurance of accessing medical care through the health scheme. However, the authority stated that any delays on the side of the employer may hinder the workers from accessing the medical care they deserve.

The authority asked workers to verify the information to ensure they have sent the money to the authority. This can be done by visiting the Afyayangu online portal or the Afyayangu mobile app. Additionally, workers can use the *147# on their phones to verify the information. If a worker realizes that the money sent to the authority is not updated on the Afyayangu portal, they can complain to the authority immediately. This can be done through the customer care channels provided by the authority.

The notice comes at a time when the authority continues to roll out the new health insurance system that seeks to improve access to healthcare services for Kenyans.

The agency, which is headed by CEO Mercy Mwangangi, asked workers across the country to be watchful and ensure that their contributions are accounted for by their employers.

SHA Urges Workers to Check If Employers Are Sending Health Insurance Deductions

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has asked workers across the country to confirm if their employers are sending their monthly health insurance deductions to the authority.

In a notice that was issued on Thursday, the SHA asked employers in the country to remember that they are required by law to deduct their workers’ contributions from their salaries and then send the money to the authority on time.

The law requires that the money be sent by the ninth day of the next month after the salaries are paid by the employer.

The SHA asked workers in the country to be watchful and regularly check their records to confirm that the money being deducted from their salaries is being sent by their employers on time.

The workers can confirm if their contribution status through the Afyayangu online portal, the Afyayangu mobile app, or by dialing *147# on their phones.

In addition, employees who need assistance can reach out to the authority through its official email channels.

SHA further advised workers to report any cases where their contributions have not been deducted, remitted or updated in their accounts. The authority said such complaints will help it follow up with the respective employers.
