Police have launched a major security operation in the Hulugho area of Garissa County following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of a local chief and a teacher on Monday morning.
According to police, the two were ambushed by unknown assailants while on duty in the area. Both victims died at the scene after sustaining fatal injuries.
Security agencies say a multi-agency team has been deployed to track down the attackers, with officers conducting intensive patrols and intelligence-led operations in and around Hulugho.
Police have condemned the attack, describing it as a targeted and cowardly act, and have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Residents have been urged to remain calm but vigilant and to cooperate with security agencies by sharing any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.
