Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has pledged full support to the family of the late Albert Ojwang, a digital influencer who worked closely with the governor’s media team.

Meeting the family at City Hall on Monday, Sakaja promised to cover all burial expenses, fund the education of Ojwang’s three-year-old son, and pay off the college fees of his widow, who is studying community health.

“I have known Albert for a long time. He was not just a supporter, but family. We will walk with his loved ones on this journey,” Sakaja said.

The governor also committed to securing a job for Ojwang’s widow once she completes her studies and announced plans to help the family build rental units in Homa Bay to support the late influencer’s parents.

Ojwang died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. Initially arrested for alleged “false publication,” police claimed he had self-inflicted injuries. However, an independent autopsy revealed signs of blunt force trauma, neck compression, and multiple soft tissue injuries, raising questions about police conduct.

“We want justice for Albert, true justice,” said Sakaja, calling for accountability in the case.
