President William Ruto has unveiled the first-ever purpose-built student accommodation facility under the government’s housing fund programme at Tom Mboya University in Homa Bay County.

The Homa Bay facility marks the start of a nationwide plan to provide 170,000 beds for students in technical training colleges, Kenya Medical Training Colleges, and universities in the first phase.

Thr head of state said the project is part of the broader housing fund agenda, which has already delivered 160,000 housing units in different categories and 400 new markets across the country.

Tom Mboya University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Ochola, welcomed the project, saying it will improve the quality of life for students and is a milestone for the university community and the country.
