President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with leaders across the political divide to transform the country, with a particular focus on strengthening the health sector and accelerating grassroots development.

Speaking on Monday after meeting grassroots leaders from Embu County at State House, Nairobi, the President emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving tangible progress for citizens, especially at the county level.

“We will work with all leaders to transform Kenya. We are particularly keen on ensuring that our health system works so as to lessen financial burden on everyone,” Ruto said.

During the meeting, President Ruto announced a series of new development projects in Embu aimed at boosting local infrastructure and improving access to essential services.

Key among the pledges is the construction of three additional markets in the county, raising the total number of newly established or upgraded markets to 12. The markets are expected to support local traders, boost revenue, and create employment opportunities in the region.

In addition, the Head of State revealed that the government would invest Sh1 billion to connect more than 12,000 households to electricity in Embu, as part of ongoing efforts to achieve universal access to energy and support rural economic activities.

The President’s remarks come as his administration intensifies efforts to deliver on campaign promises and bridge development disparities across counties. The focus on healthcare also aligns with the government’s broader Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda, which seeks to reduce out-of-pocket costs and expand access to quality medical services for all Kenyans.
