President William Ruto has announced the launch of the Climate Resilience Services Programme, a new government initiative aimed at addressing the climate challenges affecting the country.
The programme, according to the President, will focus on rehabilitating riparian reserves across the nation while simultaneously providing alternative housing to communities impacted by environmental degradation through the Affordable Housing Programme.
Speaking about the initiative, President Ruto emphasized the importance of safeguarding natural resources and ensuring sustainable living for all citizens.
“A new government initiative, Climate Resilience Services Programme, will provide the solution to climate challenges facing our country. Through the programme, we will rehabilitate riparian reserves around the country while also providing alternative housing to affected communities through our Affordable Housing Programme.,” President Ruto stated.
In addition to the Climate Resilience Services Programme, the President also received a briefing on the Climate WorX Initiative, which will engage young people from all counties in environmental conservation efforts.
This initiative is set to involve the youth in activities aimed at promoting climate resilience and fostering sustainable development.
President Ruto underscored the government’s commitment to integrating climate action into the nation’s development agenda, noting that the participation of the youth would be instrumental in ensuring the success of these initiatives.
