President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, saying investments in sports, the creative industry, the digital economy and entrepreneurship are creating opportunities for young people to contribute to the country’s transformation.
Speaking after hosting Migori Youth FC at State House, Nairobi, the President said the government was investing in sectors that have the potential to create jobs and unlock opportunities for millions of young Kenyans.
“We are empowering young people to contribute to the transformation of our nation and become the architects of Kenya’s future,” President Ruto said.
The Head of State said government investments in sports, the creative and digital economy, overseas employment, business support, affordable housing and infrastructure development were already creating employment and opening new opportunities for the youth.
“Our investments in sports, the creative and digital economy, overseas employment, business support, affordable housing, and infrastructure development are creating millions of jobs and other opportunities for our young people,” he said.
Ruto noted that sports remains a key pillar of the government’s youth empowerment strategy, revealing that the government is currently building and upgrading 34 stadiums across the country to support talent development and expand opportunities for young athletes.
“In sports alone, we are building and upgrading 34 stadia across the country to support talent development and expand opportunities for young people,” the President said.
He added that the investments were already yielding results, pointing to Kenya’s continued success in international athletics and the recent historic qualification of the Junior Harambee Starlets for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.
“These investments are already delivering results. Our athletes continue to win at the global stage while the Junior Harambee Starlets team has made history by qualifying for the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup,” Ruto stated.
