President William Ruto has commissioned a new Air Traffic Control Tower at Kisumu International Airport, in Kisumu West Constituency, as the government moves to strengthen aviation safety and air traffic management in Western Kenya.
Ruto said the modern facility will provide air traffic controllers with a clear 360-degree view of the airspace, allowing them to manage aircraft operations more safely and efficiently.
“The modern facility will enhance aviation safety and air traffic management, giving controllers a clear 360-degree view of the airspace and enabling safer and more efficient aircraft operations,” Ruto said.
He said the investment will strengthen the capacity of Kisumu International Airport and support its growth as a key aviation hub serving Western Kenya and the wider region.
The new tower replaces ageing infrastructure at the airport and is part of efforts to modernise air traffic management facilities. Government documents have previously identified the Kisumu tower project as an investment aimed at improving air navigation services and supporting aviation safety.
Kisumu International Airport is among the Kenyan airports where air traffic control services are provided by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
