President William Ruto and Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga are set to attend the homecoming celebration for Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya in Butere, Kakamega County, on Saturday, August 24, 2024.

Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa confirmed their attendance through a poster shared on his official X account, highlighting the significance of the event.

The ceremony has garnered widespread support from political leaders across the Western region, with many presenting Oparanya with bulls to be slaughtered during the festivities.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka is among the leaders who contributed a bull, citing a long-standing bond and shared history with Oparanya.

“My team delivered a bull to CS Wycliffe Oparanya at his Mabole home ahead of his thanksgiving ceremony. We share a deep history and brotherhood with Hon. Oparanya and are proud to celebrate his new role,” Wamboka stated.

Oparanya informed journalists on Friday that President Ruto would first attend a church service in his home area before joining the celebration.

He revealed that a total of 30 bulls would be slaughtered at the event, many of which were gifts from fellow leaders and friends.

To manage the crowd, Oparanya urged locals to gather early at Mabole Primary School and noted that only about 200 people would be allowed into his home for the reception due to security protocols enforced by State House.

“Security will be tight, and not everyone at Mabole Primary School will be permitted into my home,” Oparanya explained.
