President William Ruto has launched a fresh attack on Standard Media Group, accusing the media house of running sustained negative coverage against his administration in an attempt to pressure the government.

In a strongly worded statement, Ruto dismissed what he described as persistent “extortionist propaganda” by the media outlet, insisting that his administration would not be intimidated or blackmailed.

“GMoi,your STANDARD media’s 5 days a week EXTORTIONIST propaganda HEADLINES on me & my administration’s transformative track record will get you NOTHING & NOWHERE.BLACKMAIL to yield to your GREED? NEVER.Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, not you alone.Jaribu 8 days a week. Do your WORST,” the President said.

Ruto maintained that his government remains focused on delivering its development agenda despite criticism from sections of the media.

“Kenya belongs to all Kenyans, not you alone. Jaribu eight days a week. Do your worst,” he added.

The remarks come amid growing tensions between the government and sections of the media over coverage of economic challenges, governance issues and political developments.
