Rosemary Odinga, daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga, has paid an emotional tribute to her father during his funeral service at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) in Bondo.
Fighting back tears, Rosemary described Raila as a devoted father, mentor, and patriot whose belief in his family and in Africa was unwavering.
“It is very hard for us as a family,” she said. “Our father believed in us, listened keenly to what we had to say, taught us to think broadly, find solutions, and work with others. Our father taught us to love our country and the whole continent of Africa.”
Her heartfelt words moved mourners who had gathered to celebrate the life of the veteran opposition leader and statesman, whose political career spanned over six decades.
Rosemary, who has often spoken about the close bond she shared with her father, said Raila’s values of integrity, unity, and service to others will continue to guide the family and the nation he loved.
“Even in his absence, his voice still speaks to us — reminding us to be courageous, to serve others, and to stand up for what is right,” she added.
