ODM leader Raila Odinga has criticised former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over the one-term rhetoric, saying the decision of whether President William Ruto will be re-elected or not will be decided by Kenyans.
Speaking in Homa Bay during the funeral of former MP Phoebe Asiyo, Raila spoke highly of his working relationship with President Ruto in the broad-based government.
For instance, he said in the coming week, ODM and UDA will have a joint Parliamentary Group meeting to ensure that their MPs implement what he and President Ruto agreed on.
He called out the naysayers of the arrangement, saying they should give them time to deliver and judge them in 2027.
While giving the clearest hint that he will support the president in 2027, Raila said he and President Ruto will present to Kenyans what they had achieved, and another party will also present its plan for Kenyans to decide.
Raila exuded confidence that they will be able to move forward post the 2027 General Election.
"If you are saying 'one term, one term', so what? It's Kenyans who will decide the term. Next week, we are going to have a joint PG to ensure that our MPs implement what we agreed on. To the naysayers, give us space and judge us in 2027. I am confident that when that time comes, we will face Kenyans squarely. Utasema yako, tutasema yetu, tuone wakenya wataamini nani. I am confident we will be able to move beyond 2027. Nobody should try to threaten us," said Raila.
