Quickmart Supermarket has confirmed that its branches in OTC and Ruiru were affected during nationwide demonstrations on Wednesday, but dismissed online rumours suggesting casualties.

In an official statement released Thursday, the retailer assured the public that no staff, customers, or individuals were injured or killed at either of the affected outlets, countering misinformation circulating on social media.

"The safety and security of our employees, customers, and the wider community remain our top priorities," the statement read.

Quickmart acknowledged the disruption caused by the unrest, noting that operations at the two locations had been significantly impacted. However, the company emphasized that efforts to restore normalcy are already underway.

“We are actively engaging all necessary measures to ensure continued service excellence and to support our shoppers and staff during this time,” the management said.

Customers who frequent the OTC and Ruiru outlets have been advised to use the nearest alternative Quickmart branches as recovery efforts continue.

The supermarket chain reiterated its commitment to serving the community and promised to keep the public updated as it works toward full restoration.
