Principal Secretary for Labour and skills Development Shadrack Mwadime has encouraged young people to make education, skills development, and discipline their top priorities as the main elements in securing their future and at the same time transforming the socio-economic situation of Kenya.

During a meeting with parents, students and community leaders at Kasigau Ward Social Hall in Rukanga, Voi Sub-County, Mwadime spoke directly with the youth and asked them to keep their focus on getting relevant skills which can be useful in the future and at the same time avoid illegal and disruptive behavior which in the end could be the reason for their being limited in getting further opportunities.

The PS pointed out that a youth population that’s skilled, responsible and hardworking will be the main driver for development of the country. Also he noted that discipline and dedication are indispensable elements when it comes to personal progress and community development.

“By working together, we shall bring about the nurturing of a generation that isn’t only disciplined but also productive and always committed to the building of the nation, ” said Mwadime.

Besides, he accentuated that parents and guardians are significant in shaping the future of the young people, Because of this, they should always be the ones providing guidance, mentoring, and their efforts should be ideally geared towards closely monitoring their children’s educational and personal development.

Mwadime also lauded the role of women in making families and communities strong, he saw them as the human resource of the country without which the national development programme would be difficult to implement.

He reiterated that the government will always be on the side of women with empowerment schemes, skills development programmes and creation of income, generating avenues that it has always aimed at helping in the improvement of families’ living standards all over the country.

According to PS, youth skills development and women empowerment are two of the most important things that should be considered when building strong and resilient communities and achieving sustainable economic growth.
