Police in Kisumu East Sub-County have arrested five people suspected of belonging to an organised criminal gang accused of terrorising residents in parts of the area.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 24, were arrested during a midnight intelligence-led operation conducted by officers from Migosi Police Station at a suspected gang hideout in a deserted house in Corner “S” area of Kasule Sub-Location, Kolwa Central.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), the operation targeted a criminal network linked to night-time attacks in Lolwe, Mambo Leo, Ogango and neighbouring areas.

Police recovered several weapons during the raid, including two knives, one sword and two wooden clubs, which were secured as exhibits.

“The National Police Service commits to continuing security crackdowns across the country, geared towards combating all criminal groups and ensuring that they are brought to justice,” the statement said.

The five suspects were taken to Migosi Police Station and placed in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

The NPS said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and enhance security across the country.

Police have urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting suspected criminal activities to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 999 and 911.
