Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has unveiled a fresh round of appointments and reappointments aimed at strengthening leadership in the education sector.
In a gazette notice published on Friday, September 26, CS Ogamba named Zephania Koech as a member of the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) for a four-year term.
At the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), Kennedy Otieno, Stephen Kubai, and Josephat Kemboi were appointed to the council for three years, while Saida Ali Aden was reappointed for a further three years, effective September 26, 2025.
The CS also appointed eight members to the Board of Governors for the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa. They include Florah Fedha, Joseph Wambua, Allan Sitima, Jenniffer Bosibori, Joseph Magudah Okhaba, and Abdijibar Sanay, who will each serve a three-year term.
In addition, Lucy Rono was appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Biosafety Authority for three years.
Attorney General Dorcas Oduor also announced changes within her docket, appointing Bernard Kipkoech Ngetich and Tom Ratemo to the Board of the Kenya School of Law for four years. Ratemo will chair the board.
The wave of appointments extended to the counties. Kitui Governor Julius Malombe named Julius Waita Mwatu as chairperson of the Kitui County Audit Committee, with Amos Kitavi Kivite, Jackline Kambua Kyalo, Rehana Ismail, Joel Mwinzi Muyanga, Festus Mutei Mulu, and Samuel Gathuki Mwangi joining as members.
In Kwale, Governor Fatuma Achani appointed Halima Kauchi as chairperson of the County Biashara Revolving Fund Committee for a three-year term beginning August 28, 2025.
