The National Police Service (NPS) has begun reviewing its Communication Strategy as part of efforts to strengthen public trust, engagement and confidence in policing.

The NPS Spokesperson and Director of Corporate Communications Muchiri Nyaga opened the review workshop in Nainasha on Monday 17, 2026

Participants at the meeting include officers of the KPS police force and other related services like the APS, DCI, and the IAU, besides consultants and communications specialists.

The activity follows the work undertaken by the Technical Working Committee with technical assistance provided by and IJM.

According to Nyaga, communication is one of the key features of the NPS strategic plan. Police communication is designed to bring the public in contact with what the police do, what they focus on, the areas in which they achieve success as well as other opportunities where the two sides can have dialogue, submit feedback, and collaborate to help law enforcement.

Nyaga explained that the revision of the strategy will evaluate the current situation of the service communications and define future strategies based on the service’s changing requirements, public expectations and audience demographics.

Through this effort, audience focused communications shall be improved and not just being mere information dissemination, but rather the communication shall lead to engagement with people and shall result in shared understanding.

Nyaga also stated that Inspector General Douglas Kanja endorses a review, both of it more exactly and overall efforts to communicate better amongst the members of the service.
