National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Augustus Muli has implored Kenyan political leaders to bury their differences and focus on the uniting the nation in the run, up to the 2027 general elections.

At the funeral of Mzee Stephen Kamunya, the father of former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, Muli dwelled on the importance of inclusive politics based on peace and harmony.

He made it clear that he intends to work with Njenga and other political leaders of a similar mindset to lead the way in unity and stability throughout the country.

On the other hand, Muli censured the initiative of senior politicians to intentionally orchestrate scenarios that lead to the marginalization of smaller political parties which he termed as a performance. He furthered that such an exclusion defeats the purpose of democratic engagement and integration of the nation.

The National Liberal Party with more than 500, 000 registered members cannot be left out of the conversations that determine the future of this country, Muli said, emphasizing that smaller parties should be given the opportunity to engage in talks.

He cautioned that if the battles for supremacy were to go on unabated, political language and most importantly, exclusionary politics could lead to instability in the country.

Muli appealed to the leaders to put the nation’s interests before their personal or factional ones. The comments were made against the backdrop of the realignment of the political forces in the country.
