The Ngong Road-Naivasha Road Junction Flyover has been constructed fully and is awaiting commissioning. This will be a major achievement in the government’s efforts to update Nairobi’s transport infrastructure and enhance urban mobility.
Principal Secretary for Interior Raymond Omollo mentioned that the undertaking is a major stride in turning Nairobi into a more efficient, modern, and globally competitive capital city.
Construction of the flyover, which is under the management of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), comprises an 800, metre elevated dual carriageway. The traffic arrangements will be improved a lot as motorists travelling along Ngong Road will be separated from those accessing Naivasha and King’ara roads.
The new infrastructure will help to relieve congestion along one of the busiest transport corridors in Nairobi by cutting down on delays and travel times, as well as improving overall connectivity in the city.
Besides easing movement around the city, PS Omollo explained that the project will provide better access to important urban amenities, including the Talanta Stadium, which lies close by, Mainly as Kenya gets ready to host some of the games for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“The Ngong Road-Naivasha Road Junction Flyover is yet another milestone in Nairobi’s transformation into a modern, efficient and globally competitive Capital City.” said Omollo.
The State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has been actively involved in support of the project by spearheading the coordination of various stakeholders, traffic management, and public safety oversight, as well as awareness initiatives for road safety.
These interventions are mainly focusing on getting the infrastructure to work at optimum level while also ensuring the safety and security of motorists, pedestrians and the residents of the community found in the project area.
The flyover is amongst government measures aimed at combating congestion, enhancing road networks, and equipping Nairobi with infrastructures that can support the city’s increasing population and socio, economic activities.
