Social media influencer Nana Owiti has shared her painful journey of losing her mother and taking the responsibility of raising her younger sister while she was still young.
Sharing her emotional tribute on Instagram page, Nana reflected on the life-changing moment she lost her mother, describing her as a loving and joyful woman whose presence brought happiness to those around her.
“I’m writing this because, on this day many moons ago, my mother forgot to breathe…she lived loudly, loved boldly and spread her wings like gravity simply didn’t apply to her. Then, one day she was gone,” Nana wrote.
She stated she often goes through the family albums, with every picture reminding her of the memories they shared as a family. As an honor and legacy she named her daughter like her mother.
Nana said losing a loved one is something people learn to carry rather than overcome, and grief changes with time in quiet moments with unexpected reminders.
“Years later, I don’t miss her loss. I just miss her differently,” she said in a statement.
She expressed pride in how far they’ve come since losing their mother, revealing that she is currently lives in America, while her younger sister in South Africa.
