Residents in parts of Nairobi will experience a 29-hour water supply interruption from Thursday, November 5, following planned works on the Karimenu Transmission pipeline.
Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company said the shutdown would start at 3am on Thursday and end at 8am on Friday, November 6.
The interruption will affect Kasarani, Mwiki, Clay City, Ruai, Njiru and surrounding areas. Other affected neighbourhoods include Roysambu, Zimmerman, Kahawa Barracks and Kenyatta University.
The company also listed Kayole, Komarock, Soweto and Matopeni among the areas expected to go without water.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, Nairobi Water said the Athi Water Works Development Agency would shut down the pipeline to carry out tie-in works.
The company urged residents in the affected areas to use the water they have sparingly during the interruption.
The shutdown comes days after Nairobi Water announced a separate three-day interruption following the emergency closure of the NCT-Kigoro-Gigiri-Kabete pipeline. That interruption affected several areas, including Riverside, Lavington, Westlands, Lang’ata, Karen and Upper Hill, as well as Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Hospital.
