Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya held a consultative meeting with the Governor of Embu County, Cecily Mbarire and her delegation to discuss opportunities for young people in the county.

The meeting was to find way forward, practically enhancing collaboration between the National Government and the County Government in supporting sports and youth programs that nurture talent, promote social inclusion and create pathways for economic empowerment through sports.

They emphasized the modernization of Embu Stadium and its training grounds, which will ensure local athletes have access to quality sporting infrastructure that meets competitive standards for competition and training.

Such investments would not only support training and talent identification but position Embu County as a hub capable of hosting major sporting events that could stimulate the local economy and attract national events.

The ministry said it will work with youth programs designed to harness sports and become a recreation of opportunity, inclusion and national development.

CS Mvurya reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with counties across Kenya, as sports is a pillar of national growth that nurtures talent, creates jobs and strengthens communities.
