Law enforcement agencies in Central Kenya have stepped up crackdown against narcotics and illegal brews. They’re conducting a series of coordinated operations to dismantle criminal syndicates involved in the illegal trade.

Multi-agency teams in Kiambu, Murang’a and Nyeri counties have been actively enforcing the law to protect the public and prevent the circulation of harmful substances.

From a targeted operation at the 160 Area, three people were arrested in possession of over 60 rolls of bhang by officers from the National Police Service based at Mwihoko Police Station in Kiambu County.

In Murang’a County, officers from the National Government Administration Officers (NGAO) and Kaweru Police Station conducted a joint patrol in Kamama following a tip-off. Detainees found carrying a black bag containing substance suspected to be cannabis sativa were one person.

Police officers in Nyeri County following an operation arrested one person in Naromoru Town who was allegedly in possession of multiple rolls of bhang.

According NPS, the successful operations validate the potential of a multi-agency approach which includes security agencies and other stakeholders in enhancing intelligence sharing, coordinated enforcement, and rapid response to new security threats.

Officials have assured the public of their safety by continuing to partner with the public and other security agencies in fighting drug trafficking, manufacturing of illicit brews, and distribution
