State Department for Water & Sanitation has  reviewed the progress of major water programmes and projects that have been implemented. The emphasis focus on accelerating implementation and addressing emerging challenges.

Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir chaired the monthly Heads of Departments meeting, where he assessed the implementation of various policies, programmes and projects across the State Department.

The meeting reviwed the status of major dams projects, including Thwake, Mwache, and Siyoi Murunyi Dams, were among the projects. Discussions focused on addressing bottlenecks, strengthening coordination among implementing departments and ensuring the strategic projects are delivered within the set timelines.

The planning of water storage was the subject of considerable scrutiny as the government is seeking to make sure the projects will help secure a better water supply and develop the locality. The meeting discussed the Water Sector Digitization Strategy which is supposed to help in collecting and processing data by improving the collection and processing procedures.

This digitization strategy is set to improve the availability of accurate and timely information for monitoring, planning, and evidence, based-decision making.

Korir called on departments to maintain momentum, strengthen accountability and enhance collaboration to accelerate the implementation of priority programmes and improve water security and service delivery.
