Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has urged Olkalau residents to maintain peace and order as they prepare for the elections in 10 days time.
“ Lets keep it calm, factual and neighbourly,’ she pleaded with the residents.
Miano maintained that the by-election presented residents with an opportunity to secure development by remaining aligned with the national government.
“ Our candidate stands for government partnerships, jobs, raods and services delivery,” she said.
The plea by Miano comes at a time campaigns are on high gear as Muchina is set to face off with DCP candidate Sammy Ngotho.
She also cautioned residents against what she termed misleading political narratives by self-centred leaders who are leading the people of the mountain astray.
The by-election for Ol Kalou Constituency, Nyandarua County, will be held on July 16, 2026, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced.
In a gazette notice dated April 24, 2026, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon appointed returning and deputy returning officers who will oversee the electoral process as preparations for the vote gather pace.
The seat fell vacant following the death of MP David Njuguna Kiaraho.
