Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano took part in an official visit to the construction site for the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) and stressed their capability to make Kenya the number one destination for Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE).
Miano toured the Bomas of Kenya site to assess the progress of construction and review key project milestones as the government advances the flagship development.
At the centre of the complex is a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of more than 10,000 people. The venue is being developed to host major international summits, diplomatic forums and large-scale trade exhibitions.
According to Miano, the complex is expected to generate significant economic benefits beyond its physical infrastructure by attracting international delegates and boosting activity across the tourism value chain.
Miano said the complex not only will generate significant economic benefits but will also attract international participants and stimulate tourism value chain activities, well beyond the physical infrastructure.
They estimate the facility will increase hotel occupancy, local supply chains and transport service stimulation and provide employment chances, mostly for the young.
The BICC is expected to reinforce Kenya’s profile as a preferred destination for international conferences and business events while contributing to the growth of the country’s tourism economy.
