Government to clear pending bills to enable road contractors resume work soon, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has promised

A number of road projects have stalled and others going slow following delayed disbursement of funds by the Treasury.

Mbadi held a meeting with Roads and Transport counterpart Davis Chirchir to deliberate on resource mobilisation model that would see government complete all the stalled roads in the country and lay ground for a 10-year infrastructural roadmap.

“This effort will not only stimulate the rural economy in line with the government’s The Bottom-up Economic Transformation agenda but also save the rural population the brunt of poor roads” Mbadi said.

Promising; “We are expecting contractors across the country to resume work as soon as possible with plan already formulated to clear all the pending bills”.

There has been growing public concern over stalled projects initiated by both the Jubilee and Kenya Kwanza administrations.

In August the government secured a Sh40 billion loan from China to complete 15 stalled road projects across more than 10 counties.
