Manchester United are increasingly willing to part ways with captain Bruno Fernandes as they plan a midfield overhaul under Ruben Amorim.

The Old Trafford hierarchy have identified the signing of a new midfielder as a key objective for 2026, with Premier League standouts Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson emerging as leading targets.

However, both players are expected to command significant fees, prompting United to consider selling some of their highest earners to fund incoming deals.

Fernandes, who is contracted until the summer of 2027, is reportedly on a weekly wage of around £375,000 including bonuses.

Interest from the Saudi Pro League could provide a viable exit route should United move forward with plans to sell, with Al Hilal and Al Ittihad both believed to be keen on the Portugal international.

United are understood to value the 31-year-old at approximately £70 million. INEOS reportedly see Fernandes as the club’s most marketable asset and a player worth selling while his value remains high, with just over 18 months left on his current deal.

Although United hold an option to extend his contract until June 2028, that clause may not be activated as the club looks to refresh its midfield.

This season, Fernandes has registered four goals and six assists in 15 Premier League appearances.
