Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, together with leaders from Kiambu County led by Kabete parliamentary aspirant James Wanjohi, has called on Mt Kenya leaders and residents to remain united and speak with one political voice ahead of the burial of his father, the late Stephen Kamunya.
Speaking at his Kitengela home, where he hosted a delegation drawn from all wards of Kabete Constituency, Njenga emphasized the need for cohesion, calm, and issue-based politics as the region prepares for the burial ceremony.
The leaders said the funeral, scheduled for December 31 in Laikipia, will serve as a unifying moment for the Mt Kenya region and an opportunity to promote peace and solidarity among residents.
“This gathering is not only about paying our last respects, but also a moment for Mt Kenya to demonstrate unity, peace, and a shared political voice,” the leaders said.
In preparation for the burial, at least 26 buses have been organized by Wanjohi to transport supporters and mourners to Laikipia. Residents and supporters have been urged to turn out in large numbers to give the late Kamunya a dignified send-off.
