A 28-year-old Junior Secondary School teacher, Beaty Wanjiru Nyaga, was found dead near the Nyamindi River in Mwea East Sub-County, Kirinyaga County, on Thursday morning.
Nyaga, who taught at Ithiga ria Njuki Primary School, had last been seen on Monday, sparking concern among her family and colleagues.
Authorities noted that Nyaga’s body showed signs of having been killed elsewhere before being dumped near the river. Police received information from a suspect, identified as Peter Kanumbi from Nguchui village, who claimed to be Nyaga’s boyfriend and said he had found her unresponsive at Mugomoini. Investigators from Wang’uru Police Station are actively searching for the suspect while gathering evidence to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.
Nyaga’s family has called for justice, highlighting the loss of a young mother who leaves behind a child.
