Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has lauded the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s progress in transforming the education sector, saying the government is committed to making education more accessible, affordable, and relevant to the needs of Kenyan learners.

Speaking during the inaugural graduation ceremony of 418 students at Murang’a Technical Training Institute in Maragua Constituency, Kindiki said the government’s investment in education was unmatched in Kenya’s history.

“Education remains at the heart of our development agenda. By committing 30% of our national budget to this sector, we are ensuring that no Kenyan child is left behind,” the DP said.

Kindiki outlined some of the key achievements in the last three years, including the construction of 23,000 new classrooms—16,000 by the Ministry of Education and 7,000 through the NG-CDF.

He added that 1,600 new science laboratories are under construction to strengthen STEM learning ahead of the January 2026 rollout of senior school under the Competence-Based Education and Training (CBET) system.

The Deputy President further announced that by December 2025, the government will have employed 100,000 teachers, accounting for 30% of all teachers recruited since independence.

In Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), enrollment has more than doubled from 297,000 to over 700,000 students in just three years, with a target of 1 million by 2027.

To boost quality training, the government has introduced Modularized TVET curriculum, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), and a Dual Training Policy (DTP) to ensure students gain practical industry exposure before graduation. Recruitment of 5,000 new tutors and provision of modern training equipment are also underway.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, Murang’a Deputy Governor Stephen Munania, MPs Mary Wamaua (Maragua), Betty Maina (Murang’a County MP), Sabina Chege (Nominated MP), and several MCAs and clergy members attended the ceremony.
