Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has emerged as the most preferred running mate for President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to the latest InfoTrak opinion poll.
The survey released on Monday shows Kindiki enjoying a commanding lead with 34 per cent support, putting him well ahead of other leaders being considered for the position.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga came in second with 11 per cent, while Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga ranked third after attracting five per cent support.
Former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho followed with four per cent, as Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru garnered three per cent.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula each polled two per cent, while Kisii Governor Simba Arati received one per cent support.
However, the poll also revealed that many Kenyans are yet to make up their minds. About 37 per cent of those interviewed said they were undecided or did not know who should deputise Ruto if he seeks a second term in 2027.
The findings are likely to strengthen Kindiki’s position within the Kenya Kwanza administration, where he replaced Rigathi Gachagua as Deputy President following last year’s political fallout.
Kindiki has in recent months taken a more visible role in government, leading development tours, launching projects and representing President Ruto at key state functions.
His increased public profile has fuelled speculation that he is the frontrunner to remain Ruto’s running mate in the next election.
The latest findings also mirror an earlier TIFA survey released in May, which similarly placed Kindiki far ahead of other possible running mates, suggesting he has maintained his popularity over the past few months.
The InfoTrak survey was conducted between June 22 and June 26 and sampled 3,000 respondents across all 47 counties.
Researchers said the poll provides an early snapshot of public opinion as political camps begin positioning themselves for the 2027 presidential contest.
