A Kilifi man has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of defiling a five-year-old boy in Tezo, Kilifi County.
Kilifi Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa handed down the sentence after the prosecution, led by Prosecution Counsel Ridhwan Mohamed, successfully proved the offence beyond reasonable doubt.
The court heard that the offence happened on September 13, 2025, when the victim was heading to a local shop with another two children.
The accused allegedly remained behind with the boy. When the other children returned and noticed he was missing, one went searching for him at a nearby house.
Upon opening the door, the child found the accused and the five-year-old inside, both unclothed, with the man sexually assaulting the minor. The child raised an alarm, prompting intervention and notification of the victim’s family.
The boy’s father later took him to hospital and reported the matter to police. A suspect was later arrested following investigations.
The prosecution presented witnesses, including children, family members, an investigating officer and a clinical officer. Medical reports supported the allegations.
The magistrate dismissed accused defence that neighbours had set him up, finding the state proved the child’s age, penetration, and identification of the accused.
Tge sentence was issued under Section 8(2) of the Sexual Offences Act. The convict has got 14 days to appeal.
