Car dealer Joseph Wambui alias Khalif Kairo has denied the fraud charges he was charged with at the Milimani Law Courts.
Kairo was arrested on Friday for failing to deliver a car purchased by one of his clients despite the complainant paying the full amount.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina, Kairo denied the charges with his lawyers, including Cliff Ombeta and Danstan Omari, seeking he be released on bail.
The lawyers claimed that Kairo’s prosecution was a result of business rivalry from older motor vehicle dealers who are out to frustrate upcoming dealers.
The state prosecution had opposed him being granted bail pending trial, saying that he is at flight risk.
Kairo will remain in custody pending the ruling on the bail terms on Tuesday.
