Kenyan defender Amos Wanjala has shared his big win of joining Valencia CF senior squad, called to the Spanish club’s first team.
The 19- year-old prodigy has risen through the ranks and now relishes the opportunity to join the La Liga stars and prove himself on Europe’s biggest stage.
The defender captained the Kenya U20 national team and was drafted into the first team’s pre-season training camp in Girona following an injury to fellow defender Lucas Nunez.
“I am very happy to be able to represent my country here in Valencia. It is an achievement for my country, for myself, and for my family,” Wanjala said.
Wanjala has impressed in the youth and reserve squad; his consistency and defensive discipline have earned him recognition from Valencia’s coaching staff.
Wanjala’s promotion to the senior team is not only a personal but also a triumph for Kenyan football, making him the second player to join a La Liga club’s senior pre-season.
Valencia’s summer begins July 18, 2026, against Petro de Luanda in Girona, Spain, then returns to the Antonio Puchades Stadium for back-to-back home matches against CD Eldense on July 22 and CD Castellon’s on July 25.
The pre-season will end on August 8, with a match against Newcastle United at Mestalla Stadium.
