The Kenya women’s homeless football team has made it back to Kenya with a hero’s welcome, after they achieved a historic third-place finish at the 2025 Homeless World Cup in Oslo, Norway.

After winning a tightly contested third-place playoff match against Romania 5-3, Team Kenya took home the bronze medal. After the semifinal defeat by Mexico (3-1), the side recovered well and put up a spirited performance. Mexico lost to Uganda in the final, who were crowned the champions of this year’s tournament.

This feat is a major step forward from the previous year’s 5th place finish and highlights the wild card of the team – the steady growth, the resilience, and the absolute determination – on the global level.

The Homeless World Cup is an annual event that gathers teams worldwide and uses football as a means to inspire and transform lives, mainly those of marginalised and vulnerable communities.

For Kenya, the bronze medal is not merely a sporting milestone – it is a symbol of hope, perseverance, and the indomitable spirit of the players who have overcome adversity to represent the country with pride.
