Kenya Railways started night stopovers in Voi town on Sunday, following a directive from President William Ruto.
The night trains traveling between Mombasa and Nairobi will now make a three-minute stop in the town.
“Kenya Railways is pleased to announce that starting December 15, 2024, the 10 pm Madaraka Express Passenger Service train to and from Nairobi Terminus will make a 3-minute stop at Voi station,” the company said in a statement last week.
The train from Nairobi to Mombasa will stop at Voi from 2:05 am to 2:08 am, while the Mombasa to Nairobi train will make its stop from 11:45 pm to 11:48 pm.

President Ruto made the announcement during his visit to Taita-Taveta County earlier this month, directing that the night train make a stop in Voi to support local businesses.
“I have directed the Transport Ministry, and they have confirmed that from December 15, the train will start the night stopover in Voi,” Ruto said.
